  • The Fall 2009 issue of ESRI’s Energy Currents magazine features an article about Central Alabama Electric Cooperative’s use of Futura applications to improve their mapping and staking processes and capabilities. See pages 12-13 for the full article.

  • The Futura 2009 User’s Conference in Amelia Island, Florida, was a great success. Futura users learned about the new generation of Futura products and had a chance to meet and speak directly with company representatives.
  • We now offer integration with Garmin GPS devices, allowing users to load geodatabase layers from Futura maps. Now it’s even easier for field personnel to navigate precisely to the right equipment every time.
  • Futura Systems has rolled out FuturaGIS 1.0, which incorporates the GIS, Staking, and Mobile applications into one integrated installer. These features and others are available November, 2009:
    • Integrated security light support with SEDC’s utilityPOWERnet (UPN) application.
    • Two-way IVR integration with Porche.
    • Futura Queries allow users to create unique reports that can be run as needed. Numerous standard reports cover common scenarios and are also included.
    • Futura Templates allow users to create standardized templates for inserting complex or time-consuming objects.
  • Look for these and other great new features coming in first quarter 2010:
    • Integration with PowerLine Technology’s PoleForeman application. Users can design construction jobs in FuturaStake and then evaluate the structures directly in PoleForeman.
    • A Damage Assessment toolbar that addresses right-of-way issues and vegetation management, and which integrates directly with FuturaStake.
    • Integrated DGPS Post-Processing, giving users the ability to make corrections from within FuturaGIS 1.0 on feature information collected by a GPS device.
  • Futura Systems acquired Origin Geosystems in April, 2008. Futura continues to support Origin 3.2 software customers.
  • Futura Systems continues to grow and is always looking for talented GIS professionals to join our team. Please contact us at 678-906-2575 for more information.
